About Tony Rhind

All my life I have had a passion for music and even in my younger years at various parties I was always drawn to the source of the music. If nobody was dancing I would shoot down to the car and bring in my collection and I would just have to get the room dancing….I couldnt help myself.
I started serious DJ ing by chance. A good friend of mine Paul had a band and we would waste hours talking about music and what made people dance and the fun involved. It was Paul who organised my first gig for me in a local hall and I used his bands equipment. . Keen but nervous I raced down town to purchase a cheap CD player and grabbed the one out of the lounge at home…so far so good. The function was held upstairs in an old building and oh dear as soon as the dancing started the entire floor just shook like no tomorrow and of course the CD players were not geared for it and the music kept skipping…don’t panic. I placed some cushion under one of them with improved results and spent the rest of the evening having to hold the other player in my hand…..a long but very successful night. The next day a guest who was at the function rang and booked me for her daughters 21st I was stoked …… and the rest is history.
For years my lovely wife Helen would keep telling me to “turn that racket down” so that’s how my name RIGHT ROYAL RACKET originated.

I have an extensive music library and can accommodate most musical tastes from old favourites and the classics through to the up to the minute hits. and I encourage your input into the play list. Requests on the night are welcome.

I pride myself in being able to read a crowd and make sure everyone has a good time.

I have had the pleasure of entertaining at most of the main venues in the Bay of Plenty and Waikato and I am more than happy to travel.
